City seeks public input on Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan

The City of Wilsonville is seeking public input on the city's natural hazards mitigation plan. The comment periods ends during the Nov. 16 City Council meeting.

The plan will to help reduce losses and damages related to natural hazards such as a flood, landslide, wildfire, severe storm, earthquake, and volcano.

"It is impossible to predict exactly when disasters may occur, or the extent to which they will affect the city," said Public Works Director Delora Kerber. "However, with careful planning and collaboration among public agencies, private sector organizations, and citizens within the community, it is possible to minimize the losses that can result from natural hazards."

The plan provides Wilsonville with a set of goals, action items, and resources designed to reduce risk from future natural disaster events. The process of developing a mitigation plan can also forge new partnerships among community organizations, businesses, and local citizens.
