City of Wilsonville employee helping in Haiti
Mark Gibson, a city of Wilsonville public works analyst and member of the Oregon Air National Guard, left for Haiti Jan. 31 to assist with the earthquake recovery efforts.
Gibson, a recent graduate of Officer Candidate School, is with the 123rd Weather Combat Operations Group. Gibson, a Second Lt., is one of four from the OCS unit spending 179 days in Haiti. Its mission is to provide minute to minute weather updates to assist commanders on the ground with aviation assets.
Gibson is the city’s Backflow Program Manager. His duties consist of notifying residents by a series of letters about having their backflow devices tested by a certified tester.
The City administers a Backflow Prevention Program to ensure that backflow prevention assemblies are installed where necessary and tested upon installation and annually thereafter by an Oregon Health Division certified tester. This program is required by Oregon law and City of Wilsonville code to ensure drinking water quality.
